Een praktische basis

In het eerste jaar leer je de basis van financiën en bedrijfskunde. Je krijgt inzicht in de financiële en niet-financiële impact van bedrijfsactiviteiten en begrijpt de belangrijke rol van een business controller. Je verwerft financiële vaardigheden, leert het interpreteren van cijfers en het beoordelen van marktprestaties. Ook maak je investeringsplannen voor regionale, nationale en internationale bedrijven.

Ieder blok start je met het maken van een praktische opdracht. Je werkt samen met medestudenten van over de hele wereld, deelt je mening en ervaringen en maakt nieuwe vrienden. Meer dan de helft van de IFMC-studenten zijn internationale studenten. Naast het uitvoeren van berekeningen, krijg je grip op de software die je nodig hebt tijdens je werk, inclusief Excel- en Power BI-dashboards. Je krijgt zakelijke communicatie- en onderzoekvaardigheden in de vingers en ontwikkelt basiskennis over statistiek, management en marketing.

Verdere ontwikkeling

In je tweede jaar bouw je verder aan een stevige financiële basis voor je toekomstige carrière. In groepjes los je vraagstukken op die spelen in een organisatie, waarbij iedereen zijn of haar stem kan laten horen. Daarnaast volg je keuzevakken, waaronder Entrepreneurship en Data Analytics.

In dit jaar neem je ook een organisatie onder de loep. Je analyseert de cijfers en leert hoe je adviezen kunt geven voor de bedrijfsvoering te verbeteren. Je werkt samen in projectgroepen en gebruikt IT-tools, zoals Excel en SAP. Je kijkt verder dan de cijfers en ontdekt hoe een bedrijf écht impact kan hebben op de maatschappij.

Meer dan alleen studeren

Onze studie IFMC houdt meer in dan alleen studeren. Je krijgt de kans om ook op persoonlijk vlak te groeien en buiten het klaslokaal actief te zijn. Je kunt bijvoorbeeldbuddy van een eerstejaarsstudent worden, studentassistent of lid van het pr-team dat onze opleiding promoot op sociale media. Je kunt ook deelnemen aan een focusgroep om ons studieaanbod te verbeteren.

Specialisatie en stage

In het derde jaar ga je aan de slag in de praktijk. Je loopt 15 weken stage bij een mkb-bedrijf, een multinationale onderneming, een overheidsinstelling of een ngo – in Nederland, of waar ook ter wereld. Je krijgt de kans om alles wat je in de eerste 2 jaar hebt geleerd toe te passen en je onder te dompelen in de professionele wereld van finance. Treed in de voetsporen van onze oud-studenten en maak het verschil bij grote ondernemingen als Mercedes Benz en Nutricia.

In het tweede semester verdiep je je samen met je medestudenten in projecten gericht op onder meer Strategisch Management en Risicomanagement.

Minors en afstudeerproject

In je laatste jaar vergroot je je zakelijke vaardigheden door 2 minors te volgen bij De Haagse Hogeschool, waaronder Risk Management, Controlling, Blockchain, Circular Business en Data Science for Business Improvement. Of je pakt je biezen naar het buitenland en volgt een minor bij een van onze wereldwijde partneruniversiteiten. Daarnaast kun je de premaster minors volgen die je voorbereiden op de masters accounting en auditing, accounting en finance of accounting en control aan de Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam. Volg je deze minors, dan kun je de master in slechts 1 jaar afmaken. Ten slotte rond je je afstudeerproject af tijdens een tweede stage waarbij je onderzoek doet naar actuele bedrijfsvraagstukken bij een organisatie naar keuze.

Je krijgt les van onze IFMC-docenten uit onder andere Griekenland, Italië, Nigeria en de VS en van gastdocenten uit het internationale bedrijfsleven. We kijken ernaar uit om je persoonlijk te leren kennen. Onze deuren staan altijd open. Na het volgen van onze minor Risk Management weet jij precies hoe je bedrijven kunt helpen om zich voor te bereiden op potentiële risico's door noodplannen op te stellen. In onze minor Controlling word je van onschatbare waarde voor managers en ontdek je hoe je een organisatie overziet en op koers blijft met de juiste strategie. In onze populaire minor Blockchain doe je waardevolle kennis op over deze revolutionaire, technische innovatie en hoe je deze gebruikt.
