Berry Blue jello is a sweet jello flavor that goes really well with the tartness of Sour Apple Pucker, which is why this Sour Apple blue jello shots recipe is one of my favorites.

The green color of the Apple Pucker also helps to make the blue of the jello a little darker and more vibrant.

Ingredients

This sour apple berry blue jello shots recipe is really simple. The version I make only requires 2 ingredients: Berry Blue Jello and Sour Apple Pucker (or Schnapps). Plus some water of course.

I don’t like my jello shots to be too strong so I only use these 2 ingredients.

However, if you prefer a stronger mix, you can replace some or all of the cold water with vodka.

What Size Of Jello Shot Cups Are The Best?Sour Apple Blue Jello Shots Recipe (2)

I always serve my jello shots in these 2-ounce jello shot cups*.

The lids make sure that the jello doesn’t spill in the refrigerator and makes them really easy to stack and serve.

How To Make Sour Apple Blue Jello Shots

Although not absolutely necessary, spreading the jello shot cups out on a cookie sheet makes them easy to move in and out of the refrigerator.

The cookie sheet also helps to catch any spills when you’re pouring the jello.

To make the jello shots, mix 1 cup boiling water with the Berry Blue Jello crystals.

How Much Alcohol Do You Put In Jello Shots?

Then add in 2/3 cup Sour Apple Pucker (or Schnapps) and 1/3 cup cold water.

I don’t like my jello shots to be that strong, which is why I use water with the alcohol.

How Do You Make Strong Jello Shots?

However, you can adjust the strength of the jello shots mix by changing the amounts of Sour Apple Pucker and water. Or substitute vodka for some or all of the water.

Just make sure that the total amount of all the cold liquids mixed together comes to 1 cup.

I like to mix all of the cold liquids in a measuring cup before adding them to the jello mix. That way I can make sure it comes out to 1 cup. (If you put in too much liquid, the Jello won’t set).

How Long Does It Take Jello Shots To Set In The Fridge?

Then refrigerate until the jello has set, between 2 and 4 hours.

I usually let the jello cool for a little while before putting the lids on the jello shot cups. That prevents condensation from forming on the inside of the lids. It doesn’t really affect the jello shots, but they look better without it.

How Many Jello Shots Are In A Box Of Jello?

A 3-ounce (small) box of jello will make about 16 2-ounce jello shots, depending on how full you fill the jello shot cups.

A 6-ounce (large) box of jello will make about 32 2-ounce jello shots. You would need to double the ingredients in this recipe to make this work.

How Long Do Jello Shots Last?

Jello shots can stored in the refrigerator for up to a week (and probably longer). But I think they start to taste stale after a few days.

To compromise between getting them ready early and having the jello shots taste good, I make them a day or two before my party.

How Do You Serve Jello Shots?

Finally, I serve the jello shots with mini tasting spoons.* Most of my friends are past the stage of eating the jello shots straight out of the jello shot cups, and these spoons are the perfect size.
