Football season is BACK! Getting ready for your game day celebration? Whip up a batch of homemade fried mozzarella and chicken parmesan sliders and win big with these crowd pleasers!
Do you gear up for game day each week? We love watching football each Sunday (and Saturdays for that matter) and we always seem to have a crowd. With a house full of people, I rely on easy-to-make, tried, and true recipes like our homemade fried mozzarella and chicken parmesan sliders. They're always a hit and with a little help from your favorite jarred sauce, the prep time is cut way down!
We absolutely loved ordering fried mozzarella at restaurants, so we decided to try making it at home a few years ago and we've never turned back. It is AMAZING and so ridiculously simple to make. The same goes for chicken parmesan. It's so easy to make at home that I hardly ever order it when we go out to eat.
Howto make homemade fried mozzarella and chicken parm sliders
Besides being EASY (did I mention these were easy?!), these two recipes share some of the same key ingredients, which makes the prep work even quicker. You'll need eggs and Italian bread crumbs for your breading for both dishes so grab your ingredients and we can get started!
Homemade Fried Mozzarella Recipe:
Ingredients:
16 ounces of fresh Mozzarella Cheese (I buy the pre-sliced kind to save time)
2 eggs, beaten
Italian Breadcrumbs
Olive Oil for cooking
Your favorite jarred sauce for dipping, I used Ragu here.
Directions:
Cut your cheese into ¼ inch slices if you didn't buy the pre-sliced kind.
Dredge each cheese slice in flour, then egg, then flour again.
Once all cheese is coated, heat about 2 inches of Olive Oil in a pan over medium-high heat - you'll know it's hot enough when you throw a few breadcrumbs in, and they bubble.
Cook your cheese slices until they are golden brown (about 1.5-2 minutes on each side).
Remove them with a slotted spoon and let them rest on paper towels to absorb the excess oil.
Let stand a few minutes so the cheese can firm up a bit, then serve with sauce for dipping.
Chicken Parmesan Sliders Recipe:
Ingredients:
2-3 Chicken Breasts, butterflied and pounded out thin, then cut into 2 inch by 2 inch pieces
3 eggs, beaten
Italian Breadcrumbs
Olive Oil for cooking
Package of slider buns
Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
Your favorite jarred sauce for dipping.
Directions:
Dredge chicken into breadcrumbs, then egg, then breadcrumbs again.
Heat about 2 inches of Olive Oil in a pan over medium-high heat - you'll know it's hot enough when you throw a few breadcrumbs in and they bubble.
Cook your pieces of chicken they are golden brown (about 2.5-3 minutes on each side).
Remove them with a slotted spoon and let them rest on paper towels to absorb the excess oil.
Place on a toasted bun and top with sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese. I actually like to then place these in the oven under the broiler for a minute or two to melt the cheese.
What is your favorite game day tradition?
